What is scheduled maintenance?

Post  thomas.anderson on Tue Nov 11, 2008 11:24 am

This is routine, monthly, preventive maintenance and calibration work for medical equipment inside your medical treatment facility.

Performance standards are a great evaluation tool to gauge how your department is completing its scheduled and unscheduled workload. A good industry performance standard for generally for monthly scheduled work order completion is:

• 100% – life-support equipment
• 90% – non life-support equipment

To monitor the progress throughout the month, I encourage you to set weekly milestones. That way they'll be no surprises at the end of the month. Such milestones can be:

• Week 1 – 40%
• Week 2 – 65%
• Week 3 – 80%
• Week 4 – 90% to 100%

You'll notice that week 1 completion percentage is higher because your technician's can generally closeout the easiest work orders at the beginning of the month. As the month goes on, many factors can arise such as, equipment is harder to locate, therefore; not as many work orders will be closed.
